Right hand side panel not working

I am setting up the connector, using a relative path to access the directory(the $root variable is set to "../../../../" and in the path variable in the js configuration file is "UserUpload/"), the tree view is fine it can browse the data inside the folders, but when i click on the files on the left hand side, no picture preview and file data cannot be seen; also, upload, new folder and select, download, delete and rename are not working. what should i change so that i can make the functions work properly? Thank you
